Job Description

Fenix is looking for a Research Associate with awesome quantitative analysis and insights skills to help inform our short and long term Product Strategy. As a the Product Research Associate, you will work closely with the senior members of the product team to build a picture of our market, customer base and their needs in 3+ years. You will collect, clean and analyse open data sources and Fenix’s own data to understand our customers’ spending habits and the potential market for our products in various African countries. You will research and evaluate technologies and partnerships to help tailor the expansion of our product portfolio to the unique needs of our customer base across all aspects of their lives. Above all, you will help ensure we keep an eye on the future whilst delivering value in the present.

  • Perform deep research, analysis and forecasting to support and inform product strategy
  • Evaluate market opportunities for new product ideas, maintain and update evaluations of pipeline products
  • Collect and manage open data sources and articles relevant to our customer base
  • Identify grant opportunities and manage applications and reporting

Required Skills & Experience

  • Ability to maintain big-picture vision while simultaneously focusing on the minute details – Think big and make it happen!
  • 2+ years of work experience
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills and experience with common tools: Excel at a minimum, Tableau, R and statistics tools are a plus
  • Experience building / maintaining models
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, French is a plus
  • A first-class degree or equivalent from a leading university (this is a research role!)

  • Experience living and working in East Africa
  • Experience working with our target customer; the rural, off-grid African
