Job Purpose

The Field Operations Associate will be an integral part of the Fenix Operations team, collaborating with the Operations and Finance Strategy Associate and Line Operator Team Lead. The role will be largely field-based to oversee and improve Point of Sale stock management, stock logistics and procurement, and after sales service initiatives, all aimed at continuously optimizing stock distribution and control. The position requires the hiring, oversight, and day-to-day management of contracted stock controllers spread across Zambia, as well as independent synthesis of large amounts of information and strategic decision-making. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes, creates and executes inventory management initiatives to help control and manage stock across Zambia
    • Supervises and coordinates field stock management processes
      • Organizes and implements routine stock audits at Points of Sale and Service Centers
      • Verifies clerical computations against physical count of field stock and adjusts errors in computation
      • Ensures safety and security criteria are met at each Service Center
      • Retains a top-down view of stock flows through Zambia by monitoring the creation and confirmation of delivery notes and stock transfers, creating or modifying individual notes as needed
    • Uses data gathered from Tableau and during regular stock audits as well as impromptu visits to determine weak points in stock management in order to implement new and improve systems
    • For example, tightening the documentation processes for return stock or tracking the number of days kits are out in the field with sales agents
    • Assists in monthly assessment of Service Center Associates and Quality Sales Associates performance using results of the stock audits
  • Analyzes trends in sales, inventory levels and available raw materials at the Lusaka Office warehouse to maintain optimum stock levels across Service Centers
    • Analyzes data from Tableau dashboards to plan and organize stock delivery schedule to Service Centers
    • Identifies, recommends, and creates improvements in stock logistics and distribution
    • Prepares reports of inventory balances, shortages, and trends in stock check-out or holding, as required
    • Oversees movement of stock information into FenixDB, and works with Service Center Associates to ensure that the information from Stock Controllers is being logged in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Assists in month-end financial statement reporting by working with Accounting to reconcile inventory in FenixDB and accounting system (QuickBooks)
    • Technical repair of ReadyPay products
    • Work closely with the after-sales service team to continually improve after-sales services, including diagnostics and repairs
    • Manage user-simulated testing and field testing of existing product iterations
    • Oversee and report on field failure analysis and mobilize appropriate resources to mitigate/resolve arising issues
    • Technical evaluation of locally sourced parts and accessories for quality and reliability
    • Act as the main point of contact for the SF-based Product Support team

Required Skills & Qualifications/Experience:

  • University degree, Diploma or relevant qualification from a recognized institution in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience managing inventory and logistics activities
  • Experience leading and managing teams with technical and non-technical background
  • Driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently
  • Very strong critical thinking capabilities
  • High competency in Microsoft Office products
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills (English)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative nature
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong work ethics and integrity
