Fenix International is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and collaborative Business Strategy Associate to join our team and directly support our CEO as we work to bring affordable solar power to emerging markets across Africa. The Business Strategy Associate(BSA) will report to the CEO and support him by managing tasks and projects that allow him to focus on strategic priorities.  The CEO’s role requires frequent travel to various Fenix markets and the BSA will be responsible for ensuring consistent communication flow and problem solving between Fenix and ENGIE teams.  The right candidate can balance many fast-moving, competing priorities; displays high levels of maturity in handling sensitive information; is an exceptional communicator, capable of working closely with senior stakeholders both internal and external with polish and diplomacy; and considers no task to be too small. This is a minimum 6 months commitment and represents a great opportunity to sit at the intersection of Fenix operations and strategy, be mentored by the CEO, and grow into other roles at Fenix as they become available, subject to competitive internal processes.


  • Strategic input and support for high-quality and velocity decision-making

    • Analyse data, reports, and documentation and summarize with key insights on behalf of the CEO, as necessary.

    • Review documentation and provide evaluation of proposals providing the CEO with possible options for implementation. 

    • Prepare additional information so that CEO’s time can be best utilized on strategic work. 

  • Execution, implementation, and project management

    • Take CEO decisions or high level direction and ensure high quality implementation and follow through

    • Liaise with CEO’s Executive Assistant in managing CEO’s calendar with a strong grasp of fast-moving business priorities

    • Alert the CEO about upcoming decisions, meetings and activities that need to happen for business continuity

  • Communication and stakeholder management

    • Material preparation for internal and external audiences -  reports, decks, speeches or presentations

    • Day-to-day communication management

  • Special projects/initiatives on behalf of CEO

    • Track projects in the CEO’s docket, such as supplier contracts

    • Support cross departmental projects such as go-no-go decisions, business continuity and disaster recovery plans

    • Follow up and support Fenix-ENGIE projects such as Fenix audit, ENGIE-China contract, etc

Skills & Qualifications 

  • 3+ years in role requiring high level of complex task and stakeholder management

  • Deep understanding, experience & passion for building, utilising & managing complex financial models primarily based on Excel

  • Knowledge & experience utilising data analysis tools such as Tableau with understanding of programming languages such as SQL a bonus

  • Impeccable managerial and interpersonal skills

  • Proven track record of effectively liaising with senior management

  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments

  • Effective, versatile and action-oriented

  • Exceptional French and English language skills

  • French work authorization required 

  • Chartered Financial Analyst or other similar designation a plus
