Job Description

Fenix is looking for a talented, self-starting hardware test engineer to join our small hardware engineering team that is in charge of designing next-generation products and bringing them to mass production. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience as an electrical or systems engineer working on high-volume consumer product development and manufacturing, with particular experience writing Python scripts to test hardware. This role will be responsible for test and validation of new Fenix products and assisting with the NPI process of taking new product designs into high volume manufacturing. The test engineer will work closely with project managers and electrical and mechanical design engineers to define, write, and execute validation test plans, design manufacturing test plans and equipment, and assist with the manufacturing rollout from EVT to mass production. The role will also work closely with our suppliers and factories in China to ensure a seamless transition to high-yield, high-quality, volume manufacturing. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, write, execute, and automate system-level validation tests.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing test scripts & tools for inline testing.
  • Analyze manufacturing test data to advise on process and test improvements.
  • Bring-up and bench verify early prototypes of new products and manufacturing test equipment.
  • Conduct on-going battery testing for product specification and end of life characterization.
  • Provide input for DFT and DFM modifications to production devices.
  • Facilitate technology transfer of new product introduction from process development through commercial scale-up and provide recommendations that enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Work on cross-functional teams for process improvement and cost reduction.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Excitement to contribute to Fenix's mission while working on a small, collaborative team of engineers!
  • BS or greater in EE, ME, or similar discipline.
  • Understanding of electrical testing methods and goals for product testing.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions.
  • Experience with automating hardware tests in Python or similar language 
  • Programming skills in high level object oriented languages (Java, Python, etc).
  • 2+ years of experience as a test engineer working on high-volume consumer products.
  • Experience with data acquisition tools, power supplies, e-loads, and scopes. 
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Previous experience with RF validation and testing in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience driving manufacturing process engineering requirements at vendors and contract manufacturers.
