Position Overview

 

 

The Global Communications Manager will be responsible for internal and external communications within Fenix. He or she will play a key role in developing, leading and executing strategic and operational communications projects and materials that support Fenix’s mission to bring life-changing products and financial services to millions of customers. These initiatives will position Fenix as the market leader within the industry, support growth within new and existing markets, and maintain and grow the Fenix culture through exceptional internal and external communications.

Responsibilities

External Communications 

  • Lead the creation and execution of the Fenix communications strategy, including managing the PR agency and following up with press opportunities to maximize coverage.

  • Manage field visits for journalists and production companies when capturing stories in all our respective markets.  

  • Coordinate with ENGIE on corporate communications initiatives featuring Fenix, such as conferences, events, annual reports, newsletters, etc.

  • Lead in identifying, developing, and rolling out new communications tools to better engage, inform, and inspire employees globally

  • Lead communication to the wider ‘Friends of Fenix’ network to ensure they are kept up to speed on latest developments in Fenix

Internal Communications

  • Develop and execute internal communications plans that ensure all employees are engaged and understand global goals, objectives, changes, and developments

  • Work closely with the CEO, creating written content on his behalf for several different audiences and initiatives including press releases, statements and articles, internal emails and announcements, letters to government officials, talking points for interviews, speeches, presentations, etc

  • Communications with key stakeholders including ENGIE, friends of Fenix, industry bodies etc.

  • Manage development of internal newsletters and coordinate with country and department teams on communication strategy across the organization

  • Support the Fenix leadership team with internal and external communications, to ensure messages are accurate, clear and aligned with Fenix’s business strategy

  • Build organizational communications capability for local country leadership through implementation of best practices, how-to guides, templates, ‘tone of voice’ input, etc.

  • Play a key role in large-scale internal communications projects such as biannual “All Hands” staff meeting, managing events and other initiatives from design to execution

  • Be an active advocate for the Fenix culture across all Fenix markets to inspire commitment to our values and ensure we all work as a “Fenix Family”

  • Collaborate with Fenix country marketing and communication teams to coordinate and provide support for communication campaigns, announcements, global team events etc.

Brand management and additional communication projects

  •  Play a key role in the communication of the Fenix brand, ensuring the vision, look, and feel of Fenix is maintained in all written and visual material
  • Support large-scale internal communications projects such as conferences, industry events and other initiatives from design to execution

  • Provide best practices to Fenix countries on communications strategy and execution. When necessary, step in to provide local Country MD / Leads with communication support, especially in the event of a crisis 

  • Support crisis communications and media issues to protect the Fenix brand and minimise any possible reputational impact. 

  • Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

Requirements

  • Minimum experience of 4-6 years in communications or public relations, ideally at a startup or PR agency

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Business Management, Government, Journalism, English, or related field

  • Ability to identify target audiences and develop strategy and employ tactics that engage, inform and motivate

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills

  • Highly innovative and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills; excited to collaborate with individuals ranging from our CEO to our rural customers

  • Experience landing high-profile media placements and working with journalists to craft compelling stories

  • Experience developing internal communications strategies, channels, and events

  • Familiarity and experience managing social media channels

  • Self-starter and ability to work independently

  • Excellent project management skills paired with great attention to detail

  • Passion for Fenix’s mission and customers
