Opportunity

Fenix International is seeking talented, motivated Business Strategy Associates to join our rapidly growing team as we work to bring affordable solar power to Mozambique. This role can take many forms, depending on candidates’ experience, skills, and company need. Business Strategy Associates will work closely with one or more company directors to identify bottlenecks to scale our business and areas for company improvement. Associates will drive key strategic initiatives focused on improving efficiency and quality across multiple company departments, and across several markets. Associates will use data driven insights to make project recommendations to implement, as well as drive project rollout at scale.

Business Strategy Associates will report to the Country Lead, and will have the opportunity to work across several departments including Customer Experience, Product Development, Operations and Commercial.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Drive and test innovative strategies to improve overall business efficiency, function and quality
  • Summarize project insights for your team in order to make key strategic decisions. Communicate implications and drive recommendations
  • Identify and communicate areas for continual improvement within the company. Recommend and initiate projects to make these improvements a reality
  • Identify cost reduction strategies, ensuring implementation won’t be at the expense of other company goals, in particular customer experience
  • Work with Fenix leaders on special projects related to that department or country operation
  • Support with overall department or country strategy and communication, both internal and external

Past Business Strategy Associates have

  • Reporting to the Global Director of Business Development, built strategy for a minimum-viable-product point of sale strategy in Zambia, a country with low population density and extreme distribution challenges. This MVP strategy laid the groundwork for reaching 600,000 Zambians in the first year of operation
  • Reporting to the Cote d’Ivoire Country Lead, led research and rollout of Fenix’s first TV product partnership with a global content provider. This new strategy resulted in TV sales more than doubling, and TV sales now making up the majority of all product sales in Cote d’Ivoire
  • Reporting to the CEO, identified the need for improved employee financial literacy following company wide equity payout post acquisition. Pushed training forward, reaching over 50% of the entire company
  • Reporting to the Uganda Director of Customer Experience, worked on game-changing customer journey innovations, including a decentralized app-based customer onboarding, ultimately leading to significant cost savings, lessened burden on call center, and improved customer education and experience
  • Reporting to Global Director of Credit, highlighted the need for improved financial education for customers unfamiliar with concepts such as loan terms, monthly commitments, interest rates, and credit scores. Introduced an SMS-communication scheme that would tailor messages based on customers’ unique characteristics, ultimately improving customer financial literacy and repayment
